Last Game of the season

By James Grant on 24-Apr-10 12:04.

The last game of the season was going to be one of those were we needed three clear goals to move from second in the league, to league winners. With the players knowing the task ahead of them, the game kicked off.

A hesitate start from The Blades was soon replaced with confidence when we realised that this was a winnable game and the required goals would be forthcoming. This has proved a stumbling block in the past, many chances being created, but not many being converted. Not today, nor for the last couple of games. Clean sheets and many goals have been the order of the day.

With Jack in goal having very little to do, such was the control of the midfield and the resilience of our defence. Sam opened the scoring, followed by Jojo and lastly by Tom, who converted a penalty. With the three goals required in the bag, the players didn't let up and went for more. This was something that as a spectator sometimes frustrates you, watching a team go so many goals ahead and then easing off, allowing the opposition to get a foot hold back in the game. Not today, not the Blades - they continued as they started and wanted more goals. With the opposition having very little sight of goal throughout the game, the game ended, job done.

Over the last season, as a dad and spectator the team has come on leaps and bounds. Winning the league was a result of this improvement.

Well done lads, you have done yourself proud, and have repaid the faith, time and effort Andi has put into yourselves over the last 10 months or so. Time to reflect on a good season, and look forward to the end of year presentation night.
