Drayton Grange FC Colts
Colts Stampede To Victory
First game of 2010 brought an outstanding performance from every player involved. The first 10 minutes was evenly balanced with neither side creating any clear cut chances. Joe Robinson was immense at the back and between him and Benji Gatward they kept Buckby at bay for the entire match. Shay Doherty was introduced 10 minutes in and scored with his first touch from a corner. Minutes later Shay again stretched his legs to run the entire length of the pitch with the ball only to get taken down just inside the Buckby area, Joe Robinson dispatched the penalty with ease. Second half and Colts looked even hungrier for the ball, great work from Nathan Reynolds and Tom Robson closed any space down that Buckby had in midfield. Sam hennessy came back into the game and what a difference he made, he chased every ball down and distributed wonderfully. 5 minutes into the half Sam doggedly beat 2 defenders and found the bottom corner from a tight angle to Colts their third of the match. Colts started to play the best football they have all season, passing around Buckby and all the running of the ball. Quote from one spectator was "It's like watching Arsenal at the Emirates", he wasn't far wrong. Superb ditribution from Joe Robinson in his own half found Sam out on the right who's little deft touch set up Tom Pearson for the fourth. Shay finished off the scoring with an out-stretched leg from another corner. Alex Kaufman as always has a great game in goal and I'm glad that he wasn't going home in my car. Man of the Match Joe Robinson
